St. Charles Municipal Band Inc. is a not-for-profit corporation established to preserve the cultural heritage and performance of American band music by providing free concerts and entertainment in the St. Charles Community.  A secondary benefit is providing musicians the opportunity to continue playing their instruments and enjoy the experience of performing before live audiences.

The Band is organized as a 501 (c) 3  not-for-profit organization under the current IRS code. 

A board made up of seven (7) directors elected from the membership, governs the Band.

Concert band Directors:

Nancy Garza 

2011 marks Nancy’s 19TH  season as director of the concert Band.  Prior to that she played clarinet in the band for 14 years. 

Mrs. Garza graduated from the University of Missouri- Columbia with a B.S. in Music Education in 1966.  She taught vocal and instrumental music  in elementary, junior high and high school before retiring in 1999.

Sr. Gail buckman

Sr. Gail has served as assistant director since 1998. She has played clarinet in the band since 1993.

Sr. Gail graduated from the University of Missouri- Columbia with a Masters in Music Education.  She holds a Bachelor in Music Theory from Notre Dame.  She has taught instrumental music in secondary schools in St. Charles for 32 years.

Big (Jazz) Band Director:

Earl Kreder organized the big (jazz) band in 1999 and has directed it since then. He has played alto saxophone in the concert band since 1958.  He has played with dance bands and big bands since 1957.

Earl holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Missouri – Columbia.  He spent 32 years in engineering and management with Monsanto Company before retiring in 1997.

Earl is a member of the Association of Concert Bands.
